what is homeopathy?

Homeopathy treats the cause of the disease not just the symptoms

Homeopathy treats the individual as a whole, rather than just the disease. Many things contribute to ill health: the stress and strains of a hectic modern life; inherited weaknesses; tendencies towards disease, physical and emotional stress. All of these make it difficult for the body to heal itself. The correct homeopathic remedy can be the boost the immune system needs to heal, bringing the whole person into emotional, physical and mental good health.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, found that there were two ways of treating ill health: opposites and similars. Dr Samuel Hahnemann developed a system of medicine based on the law of similars, treating like with like. This means a substance which causes a picture of disease in a healthy person can cure a sick person with the same symptoms.

Over the past 200 years homeopathy has developed into a sophisticated therapeutic system that has helped to treat people with a wide variety of conditions ranging from deep seated chronic illnesses such as arthritis and depression through to minor coughs and colds.

what to expect

Your first consultation will usually last for 1 to 1½ hours. You will be asked a wide variety of questions, about your general health and your medical history. This will help your homeopath to gain a full picture of you and your illness.

Your homeopath will spend some time selecting an appropriate remedy which you will receive after a few days.

You will usually have a follow up appointment 4 weeks after taking your remedy, to assess your progress.

about the practitioners

thepractice has two professional homeopaths who both trained in classical homeopathy at the School of Homeopathy in Devon, the longest established school in the UK, where they experienced the teachings of some of the country’s leading homeopaths. “Discovering homeopathic remedies to nurse my children through childhood diseases was a uniquely empowering experience for me. It marked the start of a fascination for this vital form of medicine.

I find my profession exciting and challenging. It demands that I draw on my experience, intuition, strengths and weaknesses to enrich my homeopathic prescribing. My aim is to help you to true and lasting good health, the journey we take may have many twists and turns, this endeavour can be enlightening and the goal is that you achieve your full potential. As your quality of health improves, your quality of life improves and you can make the most of your life”

Natascha Jeffries – Tolksdorf

“The challenge for me has always been to combine my passion for Homeopathy with the equally demanding and engaging task of raising a family. Creating a nourishing environment in which healing and growth can take place is equally important in either situation.

In my experience, homeopathic treatment can be an invaluable tool in helping us to develop according to our own individual, creative and healthy potential.”
